Phase Distortion Made Modern
The CZ-1 Mini recreates Casio's original phase distortion synthesis engine, offering a unique approach to sound design that differs from traditional subtractive synthesis. The synth features two digitally controlled oscillators (DCOs) that can produce eight different waveforms, including sawtooth, square, pulse, double sine, saw pulse, and three resonant waveforms.
What sets the CZ-1 Mini apart from the original is the addition of an analog 24dB low-pass filter - something the vintage Casio models never had. This hybrid approach combines digital phase distortion with analog filtering, opening up new sonic possibilities.
